Blackfalds’ Abbey Centre is the jewel of Central Alberta.
The Abbey Centre has more than 41,000 sq. ft. of indoor recreational opportunities.
A three-storey indoor playground features tunnels and slides. The indoor play space is more than 2,600 square feet. There are smaller structures for toddlers.
With over 15,000 square feet of floor space and a ceiling height of 42 feet, the Field House is the perfect venue to host a variety of sporting events.
The fitness centre is more than 7,000 square feet and has state-of-the-art fitness and weight training equipment.
Outdoor Aquatic Centre
The Outdoor Aquatic Centre features a children’s water park with a slide, giant tipping buckets and lots of spray features.
There is a leisure pool with a zero-depth entrance, a tots’ area, and two water slides. There is a four-lane Jr. Olympic pool (25m) with a one-metre diving board and 10 ft. rock wall. There is also a 26-person hot tub.
The Running Track is a 152 metre, four-lane track located on the third floor of the Abbey Centre and overlooks the Field House.
The Abbey Centre holds the distinction of being Canada’s only indoor portion of the trail. The Great Trail (formerly Trans Canada Trail) takes you from outdoors through to the second floor of the Abbey Centre and overlooks the Field House.
Ag Society Amphitheatre
The amphitheatre is located on the north-east portion of the Abbey Centre grounds and is a popular site for cultural events and programs.
Accessible 24/7, the Dinosaur Playground is available for family fun and spontaneous play. With the convenience of the public washrooms in the Abbey Centre during regular hours and the safety and security of being on the Abbey Centre grounds, the outdoor playground is a great destination for active families.
The Outdoor Fitness Park is located next to the Great Trail.
The Blackfalds and Area Historical Society and Veterans Affairs Canada built a war monument to remember and honour our local war heroes.
